Visiting Shepard.(T’soni needs help, yet again.)

protheanexpert:

The shuttle ride had been interesting to say the least. To alot of humans seeing an Asari, in the flesh was still a new experience. But Liara had gotten the feeling that the male-humans were more interested, in the upper ventral region of her torso. She made a mental note to aquire a private shuttle next time.

As she stepped off the shuttle she scanned the area for Shepard. Eventually she caught a glimpse of Shepard’s Red fiery hair, and a part of Liara wanted to run in the other direction. She shouldn’t be nervous like this, but she was. For Feron’s sake she would have to try and keep herself in check, but so far she was failing miserably. “Hello Commander, it is good to see you again. I apologise for visiting so abruptly without any forwarning, but I have an urgent matter.” She had made sure to keep formal.

Shepard was occupied speaking with some of the rescuers when someone alerted her that a certain Asari had arrived on Earth and was searching for her. She briefly excused herself and followed the informant to Liara’s location. Luckily, it did not take that long before she was face-to-face with her friend. “Liara,” she said in a warm voice upon arriving in front of her. “It’s good to see that you’re well. I was worried about you after-” She was cut off by a stranger calling her name and waving at her; something that wasn’t uncommon for her nowadays. Although she wasn’t familiar with who it was, she had the courtesy to return the favor.

“Don’t be sorry,” she continued, waving a hand dismissively. “I’m always happy to help. What’s the problem?” Her voice showed obvious concern for whatever was plaguing Liara at the moment. She couldn’t help but wonder what she needed help with, though, but whatever it was, Shepard was more than willing to be that extra hand that she needed.

onegoddamnbadassmerc-deactivate - It seems I'm not the only one who made it out alive anymore. How're you holding up, kid?

Well, if it isn’t Zaeed. You better bet that you aren’t the only one. I’m doing fine at the moment, but I can’t say I’m enjoying being cooped up very much. What are you up to?

pilotjeffmoreau - Hey, Commander. I heard some talk about you. Apparently the next Blasto movie is being based on your life. Also some trivial thing that you managed to survive that Citadel explosion. I think it's good that way; no dying without me on watch -- you need me to blame every time you do that. We'll keep points. 5 deaths and I'll buy you a sandwich. -Joker

It’s about time that you got around to reaching me, Joker. They’re basing a Blasto movie off of my life, are they? Why am I not surprised that you’d know this? Alright, I suppose I can agree to that. I’ve got four more deaths to come, so you’d better be ready to buy me the best sandwich your salary can afford, Flight Lieutenant.

Thane flicked his omni-tool open nearly as soon as it started to beep its tiny alert. He had been very patiently awaiting Shepard’s next reply.

“More pleasant words from you, my commander. Yes, I’ve been on Earth nearly as long as you if I am not mistaken. I was… truthfully never far behind your own step, Shepard. But I will elaborate on that later, when I deliver my full apology.”

“Your suspicions of the locals is not unwarranted. It’s part of the reason I am so in the dark about the ground which I have walked for weeks now. The people here are reasonably shy, and I will concede that I am not the friendliest in impression as to outward appearances. I’ve seen few signs about that managed to make it through the holocaust.” He waved his free hand dismissively. “I… The pronunciation will no doubt be botched as I have only translation software to work with but… Harr-loou…. Harlow?” A fleeting laugh and a shake of his head. “Now I feel like an oaf; I hope that was well enough to be understood. Your English… is truly a peculiar language. My connection is still unstable and I’d rather save what time I have with it working to contact my…” He paused to savor the next word, so strange to his lips. “Friends… than superfluous data queries.”

“And… Javik…? I do not believe I am familiar with this name. Perhaps you should come find me sooner rather than later after all. Something gives me suspicion there will be a host of introductions to be made at some point about our reunion. I look forward to it.” With a small smile he sent his message away and stood to climb out of his wrecked hiding place and brave the world beyond.

((OOC: I had to change my location, for some reason the map I was looking at must have been in special ed all its life.))

“You…” Shepard began, pausing to attempt to take in what Thane had just told her. “You’re going to have to explain this to me when you get here.” She wanted to say more, ask him many questions, but she held herself back. Now wasn’t the time. When they were face-to-face, she would ask. For the time being, it was vital that she focused on helping him find a way to get to where she was at, so that he would no longer be alone in an unfamiliar place. “Garrus is here, too,” she added. “The sooner you get here, the better it’ll be for all of us.”

Harlow? If Shepard was correct, that wasn’t too far from London, where she currently was stationed at. At the very least, Thane had ended up in the same country as her. It would have proved to be more difficult for her to physically reach him if he was across the ocean. Not entirely impossible, though. “Luckily, you’re fairly close to where I’m at. If you’re able to locate it, there should be a railway system there that’s able to take you to London. If I’m not mistaken, I believe there’s also a bus network that could work, too. I’d recommend taking the train. If you need me to wire you credits, I’ll see that it’s taken care of.”

“Javik’s a Prothean. He’s… interesting. I’m sure you’ll see what I mean when you meet him yourself.” Shepard sat back for a moment, still reveling in the fact that Thane was alive and most likely headed her way. She cleared her throat and sent him one last message with a smile on her lips. “Just be careful, Thane. I don’t want anything else to happen to you before you get here. And don’t forget that you owe me a lengthy explanation when you do.”

The Commander and the Archangel

archangelofomega:

“Too busy to visit you? Never.” He rolled his neck around. “You’re the only one who can interrupt my calibrations and get away with it, Shepard. If you need me, I’d be by your side as soon as possible.” The only downside of the war being over, yes there was a downside, was the fact that everybody was going their separate ways. As claustrophobic as that ship can be (thankfully he didn’t have a fear of enclosed spaces) he enjoyed being around everybody. If he wanted to see Shepard, he could see her, if he wanted to chat with Tali, she wasn’t too far away. Liara? Her office was a hop skip and away. It was comfortable. Felt like home a little bit.

Well, now that has changed but atleast he could hold onto the memories.

“What’re you going to do now, Shepard? Well… I guess, what’re you going to do once we take the Illusive Man down? Settle down? Get married and have kids?” Living a life that wasn’t full of danger… that was something that was almost hard to imagine.

“I am a pretty handsome turian, aren’t I? Some women enjoy a man with scars.” He smirked a little. “Ah, you’re not familiar with London then. Well, I can ask around as well or we can just roam around the city and see what we find, maybe get a few odd stares while we do so…” Or admirers… considering he would be walking around with the Commander Shepard. “Is the nightlife on Earth pretty similar to what it’s like on the Citadel?”

Although she knew that Garrus was always by her side in times like these, his words still managed to bring her comfort. It was always reassuring to know that she wasn’t alone, despite the fact that she was often surrounded by people at all angles. Shepard just hoped that she was able to do the same in return for her turian friend. Even if he appeared strong on the outside, she knew this war had affected him, too. “Well, that’s reassuring,” she replied, smiling playfully at him. “I’m here for you, too. Anytime, anywhere. All you need to do is ask.”

His next question caught her off guard, to say the least. What was she going to do after everything was over and done with? Finding the Illusive Man came before all else at the moment, but it was still something to take into consideration. “I’m not sure. Maybe go on vacation somewhere. Buy a house on the beach. Take it easy for awhile,” Shepard said thoughtfully. “I don’t know, Garrus. Can you picture me married with a bunch of kids?” It was a joke, of course. She was still curious to hear his response, though.

She chuckled at him. It was nice to be able to laugh again, though it wasn’t that much of a surprise. She was in the presence of a dear companion; someone that she’d known for years and been through a tremendous deal with. “You could that say it’s similar. Minus the Asari dancers, it’s not all that different,” she answered in an amused tone of voice. “I think it’s safe to expect a few stares here and there, but it’s nothing to worry about. After all, you’re with me, are you not? I don’t think anyone will think too much of it.”

grant-me-forgiveness:

Thane stared at the message on his omni-tool, unable to think.

Despite hopes to the contrary, most of him had not expected a reply or for Shepard to even acknowledge his existence. Everything he had done to her, what he had so selfishly put her through… he had earned no less.

He played the short clip back repeatedly while he pondered his response; hearing her voice again was a welcome comfort after so much conflict.

A few quick motions and he was making his reply, an audio recording this time. It was the least courtesy he could pay Shepard in that moment.

“Thank you for the swift response. That you are even willing to speak to me still… It is nothing short of a miracle after what I did.” An audible sigh of relief escaped his chest. “Despite what I have let you believe for months now, I am truly fine. My Kepral’s persists as ever, but this has never been news worthy.”

“I…” He laughed and shook his head softly. “I don’t even know where I am. I managed to follow the fight to Earth by using my association with you to secure passage on a Turian military craft. With all the destruction from the Reaper invasion and being busy playing dead, I hadn’t given my location much thought. Were it I knew where home was for you I would suggest we meet at the closest opportune moment. But… I have a feeling due to some recent contact with one Miss Kasumi Goto that we may all be seeing each other soon enough.”

“Si—” Thane caught himself before he could fully make the blunder. Whatever feelings he bore currently or in the past, she had never returned them. It would be no use to make a fool out of himself now.

“Shepard, when I saw the explosions in the sky….” His voice cracked and silence overtook him for a moment more. “Its better than I can express with words to know with certainty that you are safe. That will keep me well enough until we can meet.”

Shepard could barely fathom the fact that Thane was alive, let alone sending her a message informing her that he was well enough to be traveling. The more she thought about it, she realized that she truly hadn’t watched him die. He was alive and breathing, a fact that made her both relieved and confused.

She listened intently to the audio recordings her omni-tool received from him, taking every word of his into great consideration. So, he was still ill, but he was able to get about just fine. Strangely enough, she wasn’t even the least bit upset that he’d gone as far as to fake his death. Maybe she hadn’t considered it much yet.

Hesitating for a brief moment to think matters over, she cleared her throat and answered him. “I can assure you that I’m alive and well. It’s you that I’m worried about. You’re on Earth? If you can, ask the nearest person where you are. I’m located in London at the moment, so if you’re anywhere near there, it’d be easy for me to get to you. Don’t… Don’t be too surprised if they’re unused to seeing a Drell in person. We don’t get many here.”

She paused again. “Kasumi? I’m sure it’s got something to do with Javik asking me for help with a mission,” she continued. “If we can see each other beforehand, though, I wouldn’t mind at all. Besides, it’s no good to have you lost on a planet you’re not familiar with.”

protheanexpert replied to your post: Hello, Commander. Are you feeling well?-Liara

I’m well. But It was difficult being unable to confirm whether you were alive, or dead. Now I’m going to be redirecting resources to the collection of data on Thessia. I will try to visit as soon as I can, Shepard. -Liara

There’s no rush. I assumed that you were very busy with things regarding Thessia, so don’t worry about contacting me if it’s not necessary. When you have time, we can meet. Javik contacted me earlier about lending him some help, so we may or may not see each other sooner than expected if you’re interested in joining up with us.

majorkaidanalenko-deactivated20 - I'd like that. Sadly no, still no word, not since I last spoke of her. I'm not giving up hope yet. No doubt that communications are just scrambled after that whole mess.

I’m sure she’s fine, Kaidan. Are you on Earth right now? I haven’t been able to receive word on where you are, but if you’re not that far away, it shouldn’t be too hard for us to see each other soon. I hope. Things here have been… keeping me busy, that’s for sure.

-talizorah - I wouldn't say that. I wouldn't say I'm the "big bad Admiral" either. I'm helping sure my people get the home we've dreamed of, that's all.

How are things going on Earth?

- Tali.

Hey, I’m not the one who said that. Garrus did. I just hope that you’re doing well, Tali, and if you need anything at all, let me know. I’d be more than happy to lend a hand if you need it. It’s been hectic. Of course, it’s nothing I can’t handle.

“Most of them have gone home. Rodriguez is still here, being a pain in the ass. Prangley nearly severed his leg on a piece of Reaper and had to be fixed up. He starts PT next week. Heard from the rest of the squad?”

Hope they recover quickly, but they should take it easy. There’s no rush. Isn’t Rodriguez the girl who wanted the unicorn tattoo? Anyway, I’ve heard from most of them; Garrus, Liara, Tali, Kaidan, Miranda, Javik and Thane. The last one was a little more than a surprise. I’m sure he had his reasons, though.
